Medication Management

Medication Management is the use of prescription medication to control symptoms of behavioral health problems. A prescription for medication can be written by a physician (MD),Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or a Physician Assistant (PA).

The use of medications can have a significant success in controlling symptoms. There are many different medications available for the prescriber to use after gathering a full history of the clients background. If the provider decides medication is appropriate for a patient it can often improve the quality of life greatly for the client and her/her family. Telepsychiatry is the use of electronic communication and information technologies to provide or support clinical psychiatric care at a distance.Videoconferencing has become synonymous with telepsychiatry involving patient assessment and clinical care at a distant location.

Telemedicine is an enabling technology, originally developed to enhance access to health care for rural and underserved populations. With the development of more technology and increasing experience, it has become evident that the goal of telemedicine is much broader. Telemedicine- and by extension telepsychiatry- is becoming more widespread, less costly, and may demonstrate greater efficiency, continuity, and timeliness in the provision of medical care.

Family Therapy

Family therapy works with parents, children and extended family to nurture positive development. It tends to view change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members. It emphasizes family relationships as a key factor in psychological health.

Regardless of the belief of the origin of the problem, and whether it is viewed as an "individual" or "family" issue, involving families in solutions is often beneficial. This involvement of families is commonly accomplished by their direct participation in the therapy session, when appropriate.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist—in a safe, caring, and confidential environment—to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.

People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. A client and therapist may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for therapy.

Marital/Couples Therapy

Couples counseling is a process through which a couple (who may be engaged, dating, married, partnered—or sometimes even parent and child or other pairings) works with a trained therapist to identify specific areas of conflict and/or aspects of their relationship they would like to change, and then develops a plan of action to improve each individual’s satisfaction and contentment.

Working with a therapist in a safe and confidential setting, couples are able to explore how their individual backgrounds, beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors may be impacting their relationship in both positive and negative ways. The therapist may assist the couple with addressing any immediate and pressing problems, as well as developing strategies for protecting and enhancing the long-term health and happiness of their relationship.
